I know what you're thinking. Well, I don't really, but I'll take a guess...
"What are testimonials?" Well, the ever-helpful Dictionary.com tell us that a 'testimonial' is "a written affirmation of another's character or worth; a personal recommendation"... or, "something given in appreciation of a person's service or achievement; a tribute". That sounds about right.
So why has a page meant to be filled with these things made its way onto this site? Well, a couple of reasons mainly. One is for my encouragement; I run this site for free, and so words of encouragement here and there are all that keep me running (not even on fumes - this is less than fumes). That, and the fact that I enjoy taking photos and showing them to other people; but it's still a certain amount of work. So this spot is here to keep a track of what people think of this place. Kind of like a guestbook; except, it'll be kinda more stylish. ;)
The other reason is for people who come to this site for the first time and wonder "well, why should I be here?". I usually invite people to this site because those people have been published in a photo, but I've found that awareness has a way of spreading beyond the special audience that I've intended - and so for those people, this page will show you what other people (with more experience about the site and about me) think of the place. Once you fit into that category, you're more than welcome to come and give me your own little bit of text and I'll stick it up here with the rest.
Now, the final thing you to need to know is how to get your own testimonial up here. I've just gotten my hands on the handy-dandy ICQ Online Messaging Panel. I've got one over there on the left. Now, what you need to do is stick your name and email in the boxes provided (the message won't send without them), and then pop your message (up to 450 characters) in the big box. When you're ready, send it! You can send as many messages as you want - they'll go straight to my contact list.
That's all there is to it. Thanks, and now: the testimonials!
JAMES DAI My philosophy & ramblings... Photographs, a reprint of a still moment in real life.... usually these are our only detailed recollections of past life.... memories :) ..............When I came to this site, I took a look at the range of photos, and marvelled at the range of photos... the range of recollections... the range of memories which are kept in Eddie's site :)
May it be an event I observed, fond memories would come flushing back as soon as I see the photo~ may it be an event I missed out on, I would laugh or smile, or gaze in wonder at such extravagant moments in life...... ................all captured on eddie's 1337 camera of course :)
A site of simplicity, but it is full of variety all at the same time~ the layout allows you to get to your favourite sections pretty quickly, and when you're there, it's up to you what to perceive from the eye candy :) The possibilities are limitless... Let this site live on!! As possibilities are limitless, so will the updates yah? Many photos = good :)
Anyway, kickass site dude!!!! :D Tha photos must keep on comin comin n comin!!!!!!
DENNIS IP Ever wondered how I got into Eddie's site? You see, I was in Chem lab one day and ran out of a tripod, so asked Bialy to go to the library to look for one. I typed "anyone got a tripod?" and here we go! It springs up.
This site is so cool! The pics are ultra nice, and especially the humourous subtexts!!!! Althrough I didn't find a tripod, there are absolute qualities that people should all check out.
JIM DING If you want to check out the amazing stuff we get up to at school with Eddie's little camera, well Eddie's Gallery is the place you need to go. Check out the fun, the surprises, the Jedi and the sky (really they are really cool)!!!
WINSTON WONG It's a good place to see the funnier side of school. Quite amusing to see some pictures and then remember why they were taken and what was happening, although you shouldn't exactly shove that camera into everyone's faces!
(We'll see whether he changes his mind after this... Winz has his own camera now, a Sony P30!)
VINCENT MOK A textual analysis of Eddie's site.
(I had been thinking that English was useless, until now.)
The purpose of Eddie's site, I believe, is to inform, entertain and unite his abundance of peers, which fortunately, I am a part of. Eddie has achieved in making a dynamic website that will continue to be successful. His talents in imaging, web layout designing and the effective uses of subtexts encapsulate the reader. Often, the contents will stimulate memories that are unique to the individual reading it.
Images form an integral part of these pages: within each of these pictures arouses an intense emotional feelings for those that are familiar with the contents. An example is Lung's various poses at the City to Surf. Lung was featured in crashing into a cute, soft and enormous Gladorate bottle, which is paralled with another image showing Lung crashing into a wall. Those that know Lung know him as a humorous, friendly, and kind individual. Lung's funny poses within these images would remind the reader of the various qualities of Lung. As a result, the reader is given a sense of satisfaction for knowing Lung.
Another aspect of imaging which is especially effective is the golden tone of the pictures, giving it a sense of aging. This is effective in that the reader is prompted into thinking the effects of time. That, although the pictures are recent, they will eventually age. Therefore, one would value the people, animals, and other contents within the picture with more care. This creates a sense of satisfaction, and urges people to think about the relationships that are reminded by the photograph. As with the Lung example, people would be reminded to cherish the friendship with Lung.
YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.... Why did I bother to write an essay.....
Well, Eddie, I believe that the Website has made me value my friends and reflect upon the memories created by them.
This is a wonderful site, often encouraging for the reader as well as the creator of the site. Keep on doing your tricks with your Sony!
I rate this site better than any site on the web. Coz it relates =) =) (Many thanks to Vincent for this amazingly cool writing. YBIC too!)
JEREMY NGUYEN THIS SITE ROCKS! There you go. Nice and simple. Just like my photography skills… hehe, ok, so for this photo (on the left) I have not gone bad as Eddie says, but it was taken on the day when I went crazy with the school stamp (as most of you should recall)… and yeah. Anywayz, Eddie has put some effort and a lot of commitment into this site. He deserves a commendation and I give him one right now. Well done, Eddie. Keep up the good work..!
CHRIS MCHARDY Eddie Woo is one amazing photographer. Who could have thought someone could have so much fun with so small a thing?? From colouring in calendars during English to full SFX, Eddie has explored the world of imagination to create one phat site with the help of only a computer, a little Sony camera, coupled at times to his new tripod, and his friends from school. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a colour printer!! so I can’t check out his snaps in full printed colour, yet anyway…but thanks to his site, anyone from school, or around the world for that matter, will be able to see what James Ruse kids get up to.
Eddie truly captures the James Ruse spirit, and I think he definitely puts an end to the belief that all Ruse students are nerds who only read books and don’t socialise or anything. Keep up the great work dude.
JOEL WILLIAMS People, this site is fantastic. The photos are great for a laugh and
the
amount of time Eddy puts into the site for the benefit and enjoyment
of his
school mates is inspirational. One warning though: you might get too
carried
away looking at all the cool photos this site has to offer,
especially all
the ones of our drama class! ;) Great Stuff Ed the sites a joy to
visit!
